A feed is the sequence of posts a platform displays. When content keeps loading as someone scrolls without a clearly defined final page, it is called infinite scrolling or an infinite feed. It is an interface design, not a diagnosis of addiction.
What is an infinite feed and how does it work? New items appear as the user scrolls. Selection may follow chronological order, recommendations, or other platform criteria. Without a natural stop at a page's end, stopping depends more on a limit chosen by the user. This does not mean all feeds use the same algorithm. (Federal Government of Brazil)
One way to explain it is to compare a task with a beginning and end, such as sending a message, with an activity that always offers more content. Both can be useful, but require different approaches to time management.
Why do social networks use likes and followers? Likes record reactions; followers organize who follows an account. These features also make audience responses visible. When a child judges every post by its numbers, discuss what those signals do and do not represent: they do not measure personal worth, friendship, or relationship quality.
Why do apps send notifications? Some report something requested, such as a message; others draw people back to content or activity. Their effect depends on frequency, timing, and relevance. The federal guide discusses features that may prolong use and recommends choices suited to development and routines. (Federal Government of Brazil)
How can you reduce everyday interruptions? Review notifications for each app. Identify which are necessary and which can wait. Agree on breaks before opening a feed instead of negotiating only when everyone is tired. Adults can also explain why they are using a phone to distinguish work, conversation, and leisure.
Does family chat serve the same purpose? Chat brings together participants' messages; it does not need followers or a public display of posts. Alkateia focuses on text, audio, location, and SOS among authorized people. Even so, agree on message volume and timing.
