When an SOS is canceled in Alkateia, family members can still view the last recorded location, the time the alert was sent and the time it was canceled. Ending the alert does not make those records a current location.
Why retain an alert's time and last location? They help reconstruct the sequence: when it began, the last recorded position, and when it was canceled. For relatives opening the app later, the record prevents confusing an ended event with an ongoing request.
It also gives context for asking: “I saw the alert ended; can you confirm you're okay?” Technical information complements that confirmation without replacing contact with the person.
SentWhen SOS began.
Last positionThe most recent recorded point.
CancellationWhen the alert ended.
Does canceling SOS mean the person is safe? “Canceled” describes an action in the app. Alone, it does not prove danger has ended. If there is a concrete concern, confirm through another channel and seek help suited to its seriousness. Do not dismiss a known threat just because an alert changes status.
Does location keep being sent after cancellation? An ended SOS retains the last record; it should not be read as live tracking. Any other active location sharing in a conversation is a separate session to check independently. The distinction between stored positions and updates also matters in Android's operation. Can an old point show the final destination? Not necessarily. The last point is the most recently received position, not proof of arrival. It may have been obtained before losing connectivity or ending the alert. Check the time and ask the person directly when possible. The last known location guide explains this in more detail.
How should families agree on alert responses? Decide in advance who will try contact, who can seek help, and how to avoid conflicting information in the group. If an alert was accidental, clearly notify the family. Only test by agreement and never use public emergency calls as a test. Also consult the family emergency plan.
