You can talk to your child without social media using a messaging app with access restricted to family. In Alkateia, text and voice conversations happen in a closed space, with entry by invitation and approval from a parent or guardian.

The app has no followers, public people search, or open groups. Its aim is to provide a place to stay in touch with children and other authorized relatives.

How does family chat work?

Alkateia offers individual conversations and a family group. You can message your child, exchange voice messages, or make arrangements with the group.

You might say who is picking someone up from school, ask about an activity, or send a voice message to grandparents. Chat supports text and audio; photos cannot be sent in conversations.

How do family members join?

Entry is by invitation, shared through a code, link, or QR code, and requires a parent or guardian's approval. Invitations are individual, revocable, and expire after 10 minutes.

  1. A parent or guardian creates the family in the app.
  2. They send an invitation to the person they want to include.
  3. They check and approve the request to join.
  4. After approval, the new member can participate in family conversations.

Can strangers find my child?

Alkateia has no public profile search. Someone cannot search for your child's name in the app to start a conversation.

Participation requires invitation and approval. Check every request and agree that invitations should not be forwarded to strangers.

Can I include family members who live elsewhere?

Yes. Parents, grandparents, and other authorized relatives can participate while living in different places, within the app's family member limit.

Individual chats and the group help them stay in touch without creating public profiles.

Does Alkateia control screen time?

No. The app offers family communication, shared location, and SOS. It does not block other apps or control screen time.

Families continue to make their own phone-use agreements. Alkateia provides a space to communicate within those agreements.

Beyond messaging

Families can also share location and use the SOS button when they need help. These features complement chat and depend on device permissions and connectivity.
